MARK Webster suffered a narrow loss during the opening day of the 2018 bwin Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton.
Day one of the £450,000 event saw all 32 players in action.
In Group C, Keegan Brown's 153 finish proved to be the turning point in his tight 5-4 win over Denbigh dartist Webster.
In the other Group C contest, European champion James Wade began his charge for a third successive TV title with a 5-0 whitewash of Dutchman Wesley Harms.
Webster will take on Harms tonight in a key encounter.
The final group matches will take place on Tuesday, with the top-two players from each group progressing to the last-16 knockout stage.
