ABERGELE has added four names to its cenotaph to mark the 100 year anniversary of Armistice Day.

More than 20 wreaths were laid at St Michael's Church monument, following a parade and a service led by Reverend Kate Johnson.

Hundreds of people wishing to pay respects met at Peel Street at about 9am, for the march to the church which was led by a pipe band at about 10am and included members of the fire and police services, veterans and army personnel, the town's schools and other community organisations.

Following a two minute silence and a bugle call of The Last Post the mayor of Abergele, cllr Mike Bird laid a wreath on behalf of Abergele Town Council.

A further service was held at St George's Church starting at the same time, following the display of First World War Project 'Postcards and Poppies' in the week leading up to the event.
