Newtown Marie Curie nurse Barbara Norbury has scooped an award for her work with people living with a terminal illness, at Marie Curie’s annual 'Peacock Awards'.
Barbara, who works as a Senior Healthcare Assistant working with the Powys team in the Community Nursing Service, is also a member of the Newtown Fundraising Group for the charity. She was presented with the 'Going the Extra Mile award' after being nominated by colleague Sarah for the support she provides to families and to other colleagues.
The nationwide awards, now in their sixth year, were set up with the generosity of The Peacock Charitable Trust and give Marie Curie a unique opportunity to showcase the excellent care and dedication demonstrated by staff across the charity.
Award winner Barbara said: “It is an honour to receive such a prestigious award from my colleagues. My husband and I really enjoyed the whole event in the fabulous setting of the RCN building.”
