BODNANT Welsh Food Centre’s annual ‘Breakfast with Santa’ event is set to be cancelled, but organisers have found another venue.

With just nine days left to find a buyer, the Conwy Valley business looks increasingly likely to close and parents who have already booked ahead of their Christmas event could end up losing money.

However, Colwyn Bay-based HTC Entertainments have confirmed they have found another venue to host their festive fun - the Victoria Centre in Llandudno.

“Our grotto will be free to enter and time slots will be given so there will be no long queues to wait in,” a spokesperson said.

“We do have a photographer Elf there too with packages from £4. But everyone is welcome to take their own pictures if preferred.”

The spokesperson added that they would also be hosting an “autism friendly hour” and a "baby photo" session during the event - the date of which is to be confirmed.

Bodnant Welsh Food Centre released a statement on October 30 confirming that it would be closing unless a buyer could be found "within a month."

Owners Michael and Caroline McLaren stated that the business has faced "intense financial pressures over a significant period".

Speaking on the news of Bodnant Welsh Food Centre’s potential closure, the HTC Entertainments spokesperson added: "We first read a press release from Bodnant saying that all breakfasts were cancelled.

"We have been providing their grotto for around four years now and have also provided Santa for their breakfasts.

"Our event has been growing in popularity each year and our Santa takes time with each and every child, giving them a magical experience not to forget.

"We're grateful that the Victoria Centre has decided to support us and let us host our free event there."

Bodnant Welsh Food Centre was first opened in 2012 by Prince Charles and has won several awards for its products since

Accounting firm Smith and Cooper, who took over the handling of the business last month, has until November 30 to secure a buyer.
