THREE Shih Tzu dogs who were found abandoned on a busy road are all looking for loving homes for Christmas.

The dogs, who have been named Rory, Teddy and Lucky, were found on the A543 between Bylchau, near Denbigh, and The Pet Joint at Cwm Y Rhinwedd Farm on Saturday, October 14.

Two of the dogs were immediately taken in by the Luxury Pet Home Boarding Hotel. The third dog, which had been hit, was on the run a bit longer. He was located on the morning of Wednesday, October 17 on the same stretch.

Steve Belgrau, owner of The Pet Joint, has been caring for the dogs and has nursed them back to health. All were in "terrible" condition when they arrived.

Teddy has a home and is leaving next week but Steve is desperate to give Lucky and Rory the gift of a forever home for Christmas.

Steve said: "Rory is the oldest dog. He's a bit grumpy, loves human attention but hates any other animals really. Has a poorly eye too. We're struggling to find a home.

"The other two are still here for now. Teddy has a home and is leaving next week and Lucky has someone coming back for a second visit but not yet confirmed.

"We are getting worried now though as we can't keep them here much longer as it's going into our busy Christmas period and we just won't have the room."

The dogs have made huge strides in their recovery and have come a long way from the "quivering wrecks" that were dumped by the roadside.

The Pet Joint carried out a fundraiser so they could pay for their vet bills.

Kind community members got behind the fundraiser meaning the dogs have been able to have the relevant treatments and care they need.

Steve added: "The vet bills that we've paid up to date we have used the GoFundMe donations. We've also purchased food, toys, collars, leads. Any extra from donations will be given to the Abandoned Animals Association.

"Rory, who believe was hit by a car, can struggle in the mornings plus he has some scars and scabs from being hit and some ulceration on the inside of his eyes which he is currently on treatment for.

"All three are now different dogs to when they arrived. They are so much more confident and enjoy a run in the fields every day."
