CHRISTMAS celebrations are about to start at Gwrych Castle, which overlooks Abergele, with fun events arranged for the beginning of December.

Santa’s grotto will open on Saturday December 1 at 10am, it will be located in the restored Bakehouse. Children of all ages will be met by one of Father Christmas's elves who will show them the pathway up to the grotto.

Whether the visit marks a child's first Christmas or honour an age-old family tradition, a visit to the Christmas grotto kicks off the festive season, and gives an chance to make special memories to be remembered forever.

While children wait to meet Father Christmas they’ll have an opportunity to write a letter to him and post it in his North Pole post box at the castle. Each child will take home a special gift from Father Christmas.

Also a Victorian fair, set in marquees within the castle courtyard, will open at 11am on Saturday. It will feature craft and food stalls, from all over North Wales, including hot food and drink vendors.

Both events will continue on Sunday December 2.
