A SCHOOL has staged its annual festive fair and raised more than £1,000 to acquire resources.

Ysgol y Berwyn in Bala held its Christmas Fair on Thursday, November 22 for the seventh year in succession.

Organised by parents and teachers, traders, arts and crafts enthusiasts and the secondary school pupils set up their stalls in the school's newly refurbished refectory and foyer which attracted dozens of visitors.

As well as being a social event and an opportunity for the pupils to develop their business skills, the income raised on the night contributes to school funds which, in the past, has contributed to IT equipment, a school minibus, sports equipment, books and other general classroom resources.

Andrew Roberts, headteacher at Ysgol y Berwyn, said: “This is a great event. We have a hard-working and very supportive ‘Friends of Ysgol y Berwyn’ Parent Teachers Group who organize many events throughout the year, this being the highlight.

“We are very appreciative of the positive support we receive during each Christmas Fair."

Mr Roberts continued: "Excellent raffle prizes were donated, stall holders supported us creating a wonderful Christmas atmosphere along with the brass band and musical items.

"Over £1,000 was raised and our thanks go out to all who supported us and to the ‘friends of the school’ for their excellent organisation.”
