A CHARITY that helps young people to get their lives on track has brought the young and elderly together for Christmas fun.

Denbigh Youth Project (DYP), a small charity providing support for people aged 11 to 25 with issues such as employment, family problems, housing and trouble at home or school, held its annual Christmas party on Wednesday, December 12.

Residents in Denbigh gathered at the Eirianfa Community Centre for Christmas lunch before stars of the show, a youth choir from primary school Ysgol Frongoch's year three class, put their practice into action with a Christmas carol performance.

The party then gave way to bingo games and a raffle, with prizes donated by Denbigh businesses.

Russell Davies, DYP coordinator, said: "The Christmas lunch for the elderly is a very special time as it gives everyone the chance to meet up and I know all who attend very much look forward to being together."

One of the young volunteers, Will, who waited on during the lunch, said: "I really enjoyed mixing with the residents, they are a fantastic bunch of people."

The event was sponsored by Denbigh Town Council and North Wales Police's PACT Community Trust.
