VOTING is now open for a Ruthin store's community grant scheme in which shoppers select community projects to receive up to £4,000 funding.

Tesco Superstore on Lon Parcwr, Ruthin, has launched its 'Bags of Help' scheme in which community projects compete for public support for funding.

The scheme, which takes place between three community groups every two months, awards £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 to first, second and third place respectively.

Shoppers at the store cast their vote by placing a blue coin in the ballot box belonging to the project they feel is deserving of the funding.

The contestants for the January-February competition are:

  • Discovering Old Welsh Houses, who volunteer to research and share the history of local buildings
  • Ty Gobaith Children’s Hospice's Sibling Support Project, which enables the siblings of life limited ill children to meet other children struggling to cope
  • Llanbedr DC Village Hall, which requires a refurbishment to give opportunities for the community to use the space.

You can cast your vote by visiting the Tesco store.
