A care agency in which there was concern about a lack of induction training has been given the all-clear.
Inspectors from the Care Inspectorate Wales made an unannounced to Tender Loving Care Limited’s offices in Llandudno Junction after attention had been drawn to a possible problem.
In its newly-published report CIW states: “Prior to this inspection we received a concern regarding insufficient induction of new staff prior to employment.
“In addition to this we were informed by the provider prior to the inspection that a former member of staff had not disclosed full background information prior to starting work with the organization and as a consequence the member of staff had been dismissed.”
The inspectors were told that the company was seeking professional advice on ways to improve the recruitment process.
They examined staff files and confirmed new procedures were in place, with recruits having under gone induction training and had a competency assessment.
“People benefit from a service where the well-being of staff is given priority and staff are well supported and trained. However improvements are required in relation to pre-employment checks,” says the report.
Tender Loving Care is a family-run business providing domestic support including personal care and cleaning, shopping and companionship.
