THE occupants of a stolen vehicle who caused havoc in Prestatyn are still at large.

Two cars, including a police car, crashed outside Prestatyn library on Kings' Avenue during a police chase on Wednesday, January 9.

Police were in pursuit of a stolen vehicle which had failed to stop for officers several times.

The vehicle was abandoned in Prestatyn and officers carried out a search, along with a police helicopter, for the occupants of the car.

She said: "I saw the fire engine and then saw some blue lights and a police car chasing another vehicle. The car on the right side then went up in the air.

"It was like something out of the movies. I've never quite seen anything like it."

Daniel Hilton, who walked past the scene, said: "I wasn't a witness to anything. I just came across the crash involving a police BMW X5 and a blue Hyundai.

"There was a police helicopter circling and lots of police in the town."

A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: "Inquires are ongoing."

A spokesperson from National Police Air Service Hawarden tweeted: "12:45pm Prestatyn - assisted North Wales Police with a suspect search.

"Two persons detained for a separate matter as a result of sightings by the aircraft crew."
