An Anglesey community has been given cause for celebration after being accepted for a £100,000 grant application to revamp some of its public parks.
This week, the Big Lottery fund confirmed that Amlwch Town Council has been successful in its bid for the financial windfall that will go towards transforming play and well-being opportunities.
As a result, public parks in both the Amlwch Port and town centre areas will both receive substantial investment to bring the facilities up to scratch as result of the joint application by Amlwch Town Council and local volunteer group, Caru Amlwch.
The £100,000 will be shared between two sites within the town, with Parc Lon Goch to receive equipment suitable for ages 8-18 while the smaller park on Well Street in Porth Amlwch will be in a position to provide facilities suitable for children up to 8 years of age.
According to the chair of Amlwch Town Council, the project will benefit children, young people, families, parents, visitors to the area and community groups which will engender a sense of pride, well-being and social inclusion.
Cllr Gordon Warren said, “I am delighted that this Lottery Grant application has been successful, and wish to thank everyone who has been involved with the project from the onset.
“The Town Council is committed to working in partnership with Caru
Amlwch to improve play facilities in the town and this Lottery grant will make it possible to transform our parks.”
