St Brigid’s School

A GREAT deal of praise must be given to the fantastic teams involved in the prestigious Rotary public speaking competition.

All of the students excelled in their presentations and the teachers have been proud and honoured to work with such talented individuals.

In the intermediate competition, St Brigid’s entered two groups.

Maddie Bunn, Alys Harrison and Bronwen Taylor created and performed speeches about gender equality in sport.

Charlotte Hughes, Seren Ferguson and Maisie Kelly created and performed speeches about fashion and the environment.

Although these teams did not make it to the next stage, they all delivered confidently and expressively, and they engaged the audience with great sophistication and maturity.

The senior competition saw Isabel Hardy, Imogen Docx and Harriet Hurst go head-to-head in a battle of words against a very mature Myddelton College group and they were successful in their endeavours, talking about ‘Post Truth’.

The senior team will now go through to the regional final, to be held in Wrexham in March.

A big well done goes to the senior team and the school wishes them good luck in the next stage of the competition.
