A LLANGOLLEN furniture shop is celebrating its first 12 months by giving back.

Calon Furniture, on Berwen Street has put up a handmade larder for the highest bidder, to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Owners Tony and Maria Jones have expanded into the town with a showroom for the ware from their Cerrig y Drudion workshop.

Maria said: "We've done really well and had such a warm welcome since we moved here last year that we decided it was time to give back.

"Cancer Research means something to almost everybody, so we thought wouldn't be a good idea to raise money for that.

The larder, which is 2.1metres high, 900mm wide by 510mm, took one of their three staff a week to construct with tulipwood and oak.

Tony said: "The bets off er have had so far is £200 in just four days since starting the competition on Saturday, January 26. It's a really good cause, and depending on how much we raise we could turn it into a yearly thing."

Anyone is able to make an offer for the wardrobe up until March 30 via the shop's Facebook group Calon Furniture.

In person viewings at the Llangollen showroom are welcome from Wednesday to Saturday, call Tony on 07825598493 to arrange.
