CELEBRATED Britpop band Cast has been announced as the headline act at ZipRoc, 2019.

The festival is to be held for the second time at Penrhyn Quarry, Bethesda, on Saturday, June 15. The festival is organised by Zip World, and will be curated by Mike Peters of The Alarm.

Fans travelled from across the UK to see last year's lead act and local bands. The historic slate quarry, provides a dramatic setting for the event.

Cast will be supported by Miles Hunt (of The Wonder Stuff) plus local favourites including Bryn Fon, Elin Fflur, Maffia Mr Huws, the Penrhyn Male Voice Choir and Alffa. More acts will be announced over the next few weeks.

With a string of Top 10 hits including Walk Away, Flying and Guiding Star, Cast are set to put on an electrifying performance.

Sean Taylor, founder and CEO of Zip World said: “We’re really excited about the line-up this year. "ZipRoc offers something for everyone. Last year the day raised £25,000 for the charity that Mike Peters and his wife Jules founded, the Love Hope Strength Foundation. Whilst the music festival is new, the associated charity walk, Snowdonia Rocks, which also takes place during the day, is now in its 13th year. Mike and Jules began the walk to raise money for local cancer services after Mike was diagnosed with leukaemia. Musicians and people from across the globe come together for the 20k hike."

Mike Peters said: "We used to walk, talk and sing together on the mountains every year. We still do that, but now with the support of Zip World we get to do it and then relax in the evening with live sets from some of the best musicians in the UK."

Cast’s lead singer, John Power said: “We’re really looking forward to headlining ZipRoc.

The festival is in a stunning setting and we’re pleased to be playing alongside some great Welsh musicians too. Importantly, it’s for a great cause."
