A BIG year on he oche gets underway for Mark Webster this weekend.

The Denbigh dartist will be joining the great and the good of the PDC in Lancashire.

Robin Park Tennis Centre, in Wigan, plays host to a pair of tournaments this Saturday and Sunday, February 9 and 10.

"The next four weekends, everyone is playing," said Webster ahead of what will be a busy spell.

"I have been practising pretty well, but you don't know how it will go until you play.

"I am quite confident I will do better this year.

"You play well and it will take care of itself.

"Last year, I was just too up-and-down."

There will be two further Players' Championship competitions in Wigan the following weekend, while the Barnsley Metrodome will host a couple of tournaments on February 23 and 24.

Add to this a pair of European Tour qualifiers in Barnsley on Friday, February 22 and it promises to be a busy month for Webster.

These qualifiers are for the European Darts Open, in Leverkusen, and the German Darts Championship, in Hildesheim.

Both of these European Tour events will be held in March.

Meanwhile, the first PDC major of 2019 - the Ladbrokes UK Open - will be staged in Minehead between March 1 and 3.

Webster is a popular member of the Sky Sports darts commentary team and he will be covering a number of Premier League dates for the broadcaster.

"I'm doing Newcastle, Glasgow and Exeter and the last one is handy, because it's near Minehead," he added.

Looking ahead to 2019, Webster said: "I have to (qualify for majors) to keep my tour card.

"It's got to the stage now that needs must."
