A project aimed at helping men struggling with loneliness is making an appeal for new members.

Prestatyn's Men’s Sheds has launched the quest to help fulfil its objectives.

Men's sheds or community sheds are non-profit organisations that originated in Australia, to advise and improve the overall health of all men.

The group has been going from strength to strength and has been visited by Vale of Clwyd MP Chris Ruane, who heard about the work the group carries out including offering companionship through a range of activities including working with wood, model trains, gardening, computers

Mr Ruane said: “Loneliness is the second biggest killer in the country after smoking.

“Being positively engaged in an activity you enjoy in the company of friends is the best antidote there is to loneliness.

“I’ve visited the project three times in the past 18 months and I’m always greeted with a big mug of tea and a laugh.

“The members have transformed a series of derelict buildings into a hive of positivity”
