Plans for a 61 home development in Dyserth have been given the go-ahead.

Members of Denbighshire’s planning committee voted unanimously to grant planning permission to the application from Macbryde Homes for the development.

The plans will see 61 dwellings with associated garages, alterations to an existing access and related works at a 2.95 hectare site.

The site is on the north western fringe of Dyserth, to the west of the A547 / B5119 crossroads near the Voel Coaches premises.

Prestatyn Meliden county councillor, Peter Evans, raised concerns about traffic levels in the area which he said were already high.

He said: “I’d like my concerns to be noted. There are six pending sites in Meliden which is only just down the road and the site opposite Rhuddlan Golf Club then we’re looking at about 800 cars coming onto the A547 and we know how congested the village of Meliden is now. So I can’t totally agree with where officers are coming from.”

But there was little opposition from members of the committee when it met and the plans were agreed to unanimously.

Speaking after yesterday’s meeting, Managing Director of Macbryde Homes, Gwyn Jones, said: “The need for high quality housing that local people can afford is acute in this area.  Dyserth hasn’t benefited from a development of this kind in far too many years and we’re delighted to now be able to move our plans forward to address this.”

Mr Jones added: “The genuine local need for housing of this type is clear and we will ensure that the homes both complement and enhance the local environment, allowing families to build their futures in this important area of North Wales.”

The homes will be made up of a mix of two and three-bedroom semi-detached homes and three and four-bedroom detached dwellings.

All will be two storeys high with parking for between two and four, depending on the size of the property.

Work will start on the homes in the summer.
