A Flintshire performer is excited and nervous ahead of the televised final of a dance competition, his proud mum has said.
Harry Smallman from Connah’s Quay and his dance partner Eleiyah Navis have made it to Saturday's final of BBC One’s The Greatest Dancer.
Their most recent performance on Saturday saw them receive an audience vote of 97 per cent - the highest of the night.
They also received the highest audience vote on the first week of the competition.
Harry, 17, is now rehearsing with Eleiyah for two dances as well as the opening number.
His mum Claire told the Leader: “He’s excited and nervous - it’s not even about the money for them, it is the chance to perform on Strictly Come Dancing.
“It’s a real accolade and it would be amazing for them.
“On Saturday their dance had a circus theme so they were on a hoop doing some aerial work.
“They have done aerial work as part of their college but never in front of millions of people. We’re all just so proud of them.”
She added the support for the pair has continued to pour in, adding: “Family, friends and the public have been amazing - we just want to say thank you to everyone for supporting them.
“Please keep watching and vote for them in the final.”
Another Flintshire mum spoke of her pride after her daughter performed her final dance on the show.
Maddison Spencer and Charlotte Davies have appeared on BBC One’s The Greatest Dancer as part of the Dane Bates Collective dance group and after their performance in the semi-final over the weekend were voted out.
Mum Emma Spencer told the Leader: “They were obviously very disappointed they didn’t make the final but they did great and the feedback has been amazing from it.
“It’s just lovely to have been a part of it and that’s the nature of the competition, someone has to leave every week. I’m extremely proud and we’ve had loads of support and messages on social media.”
The Greatest Dancer has seen dancers of all ages and experiences compete to perform on the channel’s Strictly Come Dancing and a land cash prize.
The live final is on Saturday on BBC One, starting at 7.10pm
