A REVENGE success was achieved by Mark Webster over the weekend, but he was unable to reach the latter stages of two PDC events.

Last weekend saw the latest couple of Players' Championship tournaments taking place at Wigan's Robin Park Tennis Centre.

During the previous weekend, South African player Devon Peterson beat Webster 6-5 during a first round encounter.

Fast forward to last Saturday and an 88.5 average was enough for the Denbigh dartist to defeat South African Deven Peterson 6-1 in the first round.

After the first two legs were shared, Webster then went on to claim the next five legs on the spin to secure his success versus Peterson.

This included an excellent 12-darter in the sixth leg of the contest.

However, in the second round, Webster suffered a 6-3 defeat at the hands of Ian White, who would make it all the way through to the final.

Webster did hold a 3-2 advantage in his meeting with White.

However, the English player turned things around by claiming the next four legs to seal his success.

White was helped in his quest by two fine 11-darters.

Turning to Sunday and Webster opened his day in fine fashion by defeating William O'Connor 6-3 in the first round.

Webster was never behind versus O'Connor and he claimed the opening two legs.

After O'Connor got off the mark, Webster claimed the next three legs to go 5-1 clear.

O'Connor claimed two legs on the bounce to extend the contest, but Mark took the ninth leg to secure his triumph.

Webster's run was halted at the second round stage via a 6-4 loss at the hands of two-time world champion Adrian Lewis.

Once more, Webster made a bright start, claiming the first two legs.

Lewis responded to win the next two legs, while Webster hit back to take the lead at 3-2 and again at 4-3.

However, Lewis would conclude the match on the front foot and he won the remaining three legs.

In further oche action, the Denbigh and District darts league saw its finest week to date as a packed calendar of league and cup action saw 11 180s and a flurry of low darts and ton-plus finishes.

The Wingmen rose to the top of the A-League standings with a maximum 10-point haul from an 8-0 victory over the Hand Inn A.

The new leaders lost just one leg and they benefited from a Dilwyn Martin 180.

Wings A dropped precious points at Golden Lion A.

Although they picked up seven points for a 5-3 win, they have lost ground on the Wingmen.

The Goldie’s Ryan Finch and Mark Langan both bagged maximums in their match-ups.

Steve Jones hit a 180 as Railway A drew 4-4 with Masons B, while Kinmel Arms A thumped Golden Lion B 7-1.

It was a top-two battle in the B-league as table toppers Wings B fought out an entertaining 4-4 draw with the chasing Golden Lion B.

Fourteen-year-old Goldie prospect Bradley Roberts hit a 180 and Wings veteran Stuart Olding took out a brilliant 125 outshot, going the route of bull, outer bull, bull.

White Lion A are still in the hunt for promotion after a 5-3 victory at the Plough Inn.

Nick Ashton, of the Plough, produced 110 finish and a 17-dart leg as the quality darts continued in week 11.
