A FREE scheme allowing residents to borrow wildlife survey equipment is to be launched in Mold.

The 'Equipment Hub' is part of North Wales Wildlife Trust's Wild About Mold project and will be open for the first time between 11am and 3pm at Mold Library on Tuesday (February 26).

Going forward, it will be open every other Tuesday and will allow people to borrow equipment such as binoculars and pond dipping nets, then return them like books.

Wild About Mold project officer Amy Green, who will run the scheme with Mold Library, said: "This all free of charge - people are welcome to come and borrow equipment and then return it.

"We have equipment like bug pots, pond nets and binoculars available.

"The can be used at school, at home, in the park - any space where people want to find out more about wildlife.

"There are identification guides available at the library as well, so people can find out more about what they are looking at."

As part of the launch, there will be family activities in Daniel Owen Square such as green woodworking and pollinator games.

There will also be a representative from COFNOD, the environmental record centre for North Wales, who will be showing people how to record their wildlife findings online.

Cllr Andrea Mearns said she wants to encourage as many people as possible to turn out and see what the scheme has to offer.
