IRISH eyes have most definitely been smiling.

Bala Town had the honour of hosting a clash between Wales U-18s and the Republic of Ireland U-18s Academy sides on Thursday.

The previous Tuesday evening had seen Ireland win 1-0 versus the Welsh lads at The Rock, Cefn Druids.

There was a goalfest at Maes Tegid for the second match, with Rian Ashe giving the visitors an early lead.

Wales hit back through Telor Williams, before James Parry put the home side in front.

However, Rian Ashe and Aaron McDaid hit back before the interval with two quickfire goals to give the Irish team a 3-2 lead at the break.

There were no further goals in the second half, but it was a fantastic game of football between two competitive and talented countries.

Ireland took home the John McCoughlin Cup and the players were awarded with their caps following the game.
