A SECONDARY school in Ruthin has received a record-breaking number of applications for the upcoming academic year.
Ysgol Brynhyfryd has seen applications of year seven pupils rise by one third between the 2016-17 and upcoming 2019-20 academic years.
The Ruthin school was awarded Green Category status, the highest level under the Welsh Government's school performance rating system, marking it as one of the best performing secondary schools in North Wales.
Geraint Parry, Ysgol Brynhyfryd headteacher, said the number of applications reflects the school's performance and the hard work of staff and pupils.
He said: "We are absolutely delighted to announce that our continued success has encouraged more parents than ever to make Ysgol Brynhyfryd their school of choice. This is testament to the hard work and commitment of the pupils, families and staff here at the school.
"I am looking forward to welcoming our new pupils to the school, and over the forthcoming months there will be a series of exciting events that will help our pupils learn more about Brynhyfryd and prepare them for a confident and enjoyable start in September.’
