Motorists are being urged to avoid areas hit by flooding as the region continues to be hit by rain and wind.

Natural Resources Wales have issued flood warnings for Conwy valley with Gwydir Road between Llanrwst and Trefriw impassable, and isolated properties and extensive areas of agricultural land in Upper Dee Valley.

NRW have said that upstream gauging stations showed record levels of rainfall on Conwy but our monitoring point in Llanrwst haven't yet reached that mark.

The NRW also issued a flood warning shortly before 2pm for parts of Bala, including the leisure centre, Tegid Street and the High Street with localised flooding problems resulting from surface water.

"More rain is forecast this afternoon which will cause the river to rise further.

"Flood defences are now in operation and the situation on site is being constantly monitored."

North Wales Police is advising motorists "not to brave the elements if possible and risk getting stranded in flood water".

Police report flooding on the B5106 at between Conwy and Dolgarrog with motorists advised to avoid and take an alternative route.

Traffic Wales is reporting the A470 Llanrwst remains closed due to flooding.

The weather has been causing problems for sports fixtures.

While venues including Llandudno Rugby Club and The Oval, Llandudno, have been left waterlogged,

Prestatyn Town FC tweeted that following another pitch inspection the referee took the decision to postpone its fixture with Flint Town FC.
