CUSTOMERS can pop into the Co-op store in Ruthin to have a look at its completed £1m makeover today.

Transformation work on the Station Road store started back in mid-January but has now been completed.

The store will now be open between 6am and10pm on weekdays and Saturdays and between 10am and 4pm on Sundays.

The work was part of a wider Co-op scheme, which saw a further £2m spent on doubling the size of a store in Benllech on Anglesey, which is set to open later this year.

Between them, the two stores support around 45 full and part time local jobs.

Both will also bring a funding boost to local causes through Co-op’s Membership scheme, which sees Members receive a 5% reward when they swipe their Membership card when buying own brand products, with the community retailer donating a further 1% to local causes.

Students in North Wales holding the NUS Extra (TOTUM) card also receive a 10% discount off their groceries at the store to support them during their studies

A Spokesperson for Co-op, said: “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to make such a further significant investment in North Wales – we would also like to thank our customers for their patience and understanding during the extensive programmes of work at the two sites."

“The stores have a great new look and range in order to serve the needs of our local community. It’s all about getting closer to our members and customers, providing what they want, need and care about, conveniently.

“We also want customers to know that they can become a co-owner and member of their Co-op, and that the Co-op gives back to its Members and the community - our Members help us to make a difference locally simply by swiping their Membership card when they shop with us.“
