POLICE are renewing their appeal for people to secure their sheds and outbuildings following eight more burglaries in the Ruthin area.

The warning comes following further reports of burglaries of sheds and garages across the town in the past two weeks, during which bicycles and garden tools have been stolen.

On Tuesday, March 19, police said a total of 13 burglaries had taken place since the previous Thursday.

Police said that figure has now since risen to a total of 21.

Sgt Mike Robinson of North Wales Police said police have "increased patrols in the area" and is calling the public to assist in their investigation. He said: “The total now stands at 21, and we are strongly advising residents to ensure that outbuildings and sheds are locked and checked regularly and that tools are stored securely.”

“We have increased our patrols in the area to reassure the public and ask that anyone with any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem to come forward and assist us.”

Anyone who may have seen someone acting suspiciously or who may have been offered tools and bikes in the area during the past couple of weeks is asked to call the police on 101 or use the live webchat quoting reference 19100109245. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
