A GROUP of schoolchildren from Bala enjoyed great success at the Regional Urdd Eisteddfod competition held recently.

Several pupils of all ages from Ysgol Bro Tegid school, will now go on to compete at the National Urdd Eisteddfod in Cardiff which begins on May 27.

The school took first prize in the ‘Year 6 and under Choir’ competition (for primary schools of up to 150 children) and the ‘Unison Party, Year 6 and under (50+)’ category too.

Pupils also finished as runners-up in the ‘Recitation Group Year 6 and Under’ category and there was success for Caio Hughes too, who was crowned champion in ‘Year 2 and Under Solo Singing’ category and will be go on to represent the school in Cardiff.

Year Six pupil Madi Edwards will be joining him after winning the 'Hip-Hop Dance' competition.

Bro Tegid headteacher Sara Morris said: “The pupils have been very busy preparing themselves for this year's Eisteddfod and a number of them competed in various competitions.

"We are proud of each and every one of them and very grateful to them for putting in such a great effort to learn pieces and give it their all during their performances.

"I must also say a big thank you to staff members who worked hard to teach them and guide them through it."
