WOULD you be interested in helping your community by investing in its pub or football club?

A workshop about share offers in community-led businesses will be held by Denbighshire County Council and the Denbighshire Voluntary Services Council in Denbigh next month.

Community shares are a practical way to support a business that serves your community, rather than to make financial gain.

The scheme can save local shops and pubs, finance renewable energy schemes, transform community facilities, support local food growing, fund new football clubs and restore heritage buildings.

You might receive limited interest on your investment and, if you want your money back, you have the right to withdraw some or all of your share capital subject to terms and conditions.

The workshop at Denbigh Town Hall will bring together expert guidance from the Wales Co-operative Centre, who will discuss examples of good practice in Wales and provide an overview of different options to consider.

Residents, community, town and city councils, county councillors and members of voluntary groups who are interested in exploring community-led businesses are all invited.

There will also be an information fair, in which a number of organisations will be on hand to talk about your ideas and the support they can offer.

Light refreshments will be provided.

The event takes place on Thursday, May 16 between 9.30am and 2pm.
