DANCING has turned out to the the perfect way to raise money for a worthy cause.

Jocelyn Lloyd-Jones and Emma Mayers, Year 6 pupils at Rhos Street School, in Ruthin, organised a danceathon at the school to raise funds for Stand Up to Cancer.

"One of us heard on the radio that there was a 24-hour danceathon taking place and we suggested the idea of organising our own danceathon in school in own clothes and also to hold a bake sale on March 29," they explained.

"After the own clothes money, the bake sale takings and collecting from separate sponsors, we came to the total amount of £500.

"We also had help from our school council representatives and some of our friends."

It wasn't just the children who were having a boogie.

They added: "On the following Monday, we also organised a teachers’ dance in front of the whole school, which was very enjoyable to watch!

"We are also hoping to do a sponsored walk up Snowdon in the future, to raise further money for Stand up to Cancer."
