ANNIVERSARY celebrations are coming quickly for a Vale of Clwyd sporting club.

Denbigh Cricket Club starts the 2019 season this Saturday and celebrations are well underway to mark the 175th anniversary of the club being formed.

After a successful comedy night in January, the next events in the calendar are coming up quickly.

On Friday, May 17, organisers are planning a golf day at Denbigh Golf Club.

This will be for four-person teams in a Texas scramble format.

It will be open to all and the contest will get underway at 2pm.

The main event of the year is the anniversary ball on Saturday, June 8.

This ball will be held in a marquee on Denbigh Cricket Club's Ystrad Road ground.

Tickets, which are priced at £45, are selling well for this black tie event.

There will be a three course dinner, plus music provided by the acclaimed band The Playboys.

The event is open to all regardless of their link to the club.

"We are hoping to welcome as many former players, sponsors, supporters and cricketing opponents as possible," said a club spokesman.
