Newtown Carnival have named their carnival queen, and for the first time, carnival king ahead of the annual event on June 8.

Queen Elect Siannon McBride will be joined by King Elect Harvey Challinor, the first time in the event's history where a carnival king will feature alongside the more traditional carnival queen.

"This will be the first time in the carnival history that we have a king and queen," said organiser Jen Reynolds.

"The committee are now well on the way and would like to send everyone a reminder that stalls are now being booked and spaces are limited, you can pick up a booking stall form from the Monty Club or download of our web site below, try to book early to avoid disappointment.

"Also anyone needs any help in getting a float for the parade please let us know as we can help you get one.

"We have lots going on in the build up to carnival day, and we will be selling ducks and raffle tickets throughout the month of May at the entrance to Bear Lanes, so please come along and buy some. You have to be in it to win it!"

A quiz event, Becky and Evie’s Roadshow, will be held at the Monty Club on Friday, May 31 with the annual Waggon and Horses quiz to be held the following month on Sunday June 2, with Carnival Prize Bingo at the Monty Club to follow later that day.
