SMASH hit comedy One Man, Two Guvnors is among the shows set to grace the stage at Nuffield Southampton Theatres later this year.

Produced by New Wolsey Theatre Ipswich in association with NST, the fast-paced farce follows the fortunes of Francis Henshall who when down on his luck and permanently hungry finds himself employed by two bosses and will be at NST Campus in October.

Director of Nuffield Southampton Theatres, Samuel Hodges, has announced the highlights for the coming autumn winter season across its two Southampton venues, NST City and NST Campus, including the hotly anticipated festive show.

Cinderella The Musical, from the team behind recent hits David Walliams’ Billionaire Boy The Musical and Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox, opens in November and runs until January.

During October half term, families can enjoy The Gruffalo. Join Mouse on a daring adventure through the deep, dark wood in a magical stage adaptation of the classic picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

A Nuffield Southampton Theatres co-production of Blood of the Young’s Pride and Prejudice* (*Sort Of), a transgressive yet faithful comedy version of the Austen novel, will be at NST City next spring.

A major revival of the Pulitzer Prize nominated classic Two Trains Running by August Wilson and the spine chilling thriller Woman in Black will both be performed in September.

A musical version of the much-loved film Amelie will star Danny Mac, who was a runner up in 2016's Strictly Come Dancing. Based on the five-time Oscar-nominated 2001 film which starred Audrey Tautou, the musical was first staged in California in 2015 before running on Broadway. It tells the story of Amélie Poulain, a Parisian woman who improvises small acts of kindness and falls for a strange man.

Following two sell-out runs at the National Theatre and a world tour, Inua Ellams’ acclaimed Barber Shop Chronicles comes to NST Campus in November. Newsroom, political platform, local hotspot, confession box, preacher-pulpit and football stadium. For generations, African men have gathered in barber shops to discuss the world. Directed by Olivier award-winning director Bijan Sheibani and designed by Rae Smith (War Horse), Barber Shop Chronicles is a heart-warming, hilarious and insightful new play that leaps from a barber shop in Peckham to Johannesburg, Harare, Kampala, Lagos and Accra over the course of a single day.

Samuel Hodges told the Daily Echo: "This season is all about bringing familiar and entertaining titles to Southampton with our trademark boldness.

"One Man, Two Guvnors is one of the funniest comedies of the last decade and this is a Pride and Prejudice that will delight both Austen diehards and those looking for something more radical."
