Aerial photography business Dragon UAV forward to shortlist for prestigious construction award.

Dragon UAV, a specialist media producer based in Newtown, has been shortlisted for the Constructing Excellence CEW Awards 2019.

The Constructing Excellence in Wales awards are recognised across the Welsh built environment as the biggest and brightest celebration of best practice in Wales.

Alun Griffiths Contractors who recently completed the Newtown A483/A490 bypass, have nominated Dragon UAV in the SME (small to medium enterprise) category with 1-50 employees.

Nick Cleary, Project Manager for the bypass project said; “Working with Dragon UAV has been a positive experience

"His focus on customer satisfaction was evident through all stages of the process.

"The aerial photography, video and timelapse work are assisting us greatly in the management and documenting of the project and we look forward to working with Dragon UAV in the future.

"We have enjoyed working with a company that shares the same core mission – delivering a quality product safely, to time and budget.”

Stu Trigg, owner of Dragon UAV, is delighted to have been nominated.

“As Alun Griffiths work with a great number of SMEs in the construction industry, to be recognised and appreciated for the efforts we have made is hugely rewarding.

"We continue to work with Griffiths on other projects as well as out other clients including ARUP, EvaBuild, Hughes Architects and Cleveland Bridge.

"We will of course continue working within the Mid Wales business community to assist where we can with digital heritage, marketing and tourism and promotion of the great businesses and industry we have in the area.

"We have had footage featured on the BBC, on ITV and S4C as well as in the national and international press and take every opportunity to promote Mid Wales as a destination.

“With the Business Wales “Tourism Business Innovation Award”, and the recent Powys Business Awards “Start-Up Business Award” it is great to be recognised for the efforts we make to stand out the drone industry, one that is easy to enter and hugely difficult to succeed in !

Now its fingers crossed time.

Stu will be making a presentation to a panel of judges at the end of April, and will hear the results at a ceremony held at the Celtic Manor, Newport in June.

The County Times sponsored the Start-up Business Award at the Powys Business Awards and editor Nick Knight was delighted to present the award to Stu.

Nick said: "It's always a pleasure to do business with Stu who has become a good friend of the County Times.

"He has cornered a unique place in the aerial drone market with his superb photographic skills and imaginative use of something that many people might regard as a toy. It would be fantastic if he adds another trophy to his well deserved collection."
