A MOVE with Ease Somatic Movement Workshop will be held at the Elephant and Castle, Newtown, on Saturday, May 11, from 10am to noon.

The workshop will be run by Maria Zervas, founder of Creative Yoga Motion and Unique Somatics.

It will cost £21. Booking is essential payment by paypal at www.creativeyogamotion.uk

Maria is a Somatic practitioner and an advanced registered yoga teacher.

Maria says: “This workshop is based on the work of Thomas Hanna (1928-1990) The founder of Hanna Somatics – a rapidly effective form of neuromuscular (mind-body training) movement re-education that goes directly to the root cause of most chronic muscular pain and tightness in muscles caused by many different reasons, from physical trauma to emotional stress.

“That reduces your range of movement and limits your mobility.

“You will experience how the brain and the way it senses and organises the muscles and movement.

“This workshop will give you an opportunity to experience Somatic movement both in the movement practise and the science behind this neuromuscular education.

“You will gain the knowledge of the three reflexes that cause tension, contracted muscles, and sometimes pain in the body.

“This workshop will give you an introduction to Somatic movements that will give you greater awareness of how you move your body and what isn’t moving well, improve your range of movement and give you freedom in your daily activities, as you reawaken sensory-motor pathways that let you gain full control of your muscles, and know if you are releasing them after use to their resting length and releasing sensory motor amnesia.”
