A COUNTRY FAIR, a range of locally-sourced foods and the tractors that helped produce them are set to immerse Ruthin in colour next bank holiday Saturday.
Clwyd 2020, the campaign for the this year's Royal Welsh Feature County, will take over Ruthin Livestock Auction on May 25 to host the Clwyd Country Fair.
Before the food and craft stalls open on the Saturday, scores of vintage tractors will tour the Vale of Clwyd at 9am, giving crowds the chance to thank farming communities for the food on their tables year round. They will return to the auction after midday for interested parties to take a closer look.
The stalls will open in the main hall from 10am with a variety of high quality local food produce on sale, including Blodyn Aur, Swan's farm shop, Chilly Cow ice cream, Welsh Mountain Kefir, Marina's Italian cakes and treats, Shlizzy's fruity drinks, Owen & Edwards' coffee and more. There will also be stalls by Coleg Cambria, YFC, Mona Tractors and Clwyd 2020.
There will be a series of kitchen demonstrations, headlined by Beatriz Albo, artisan producer and owner of Sabor d'Amor, who was the finalist on the BBC's Top of the Shop programme. Albo will demonstrate how to make her famous Churros.
A woodcarving demonstration will follow.

For the canine lovers, a dog show will take the lead at 2.30pm with classes to suit all dogs and owners. It will be judged by a former Crufts competitor and panellist. Classes include large and small dog breeds, sporting dog, dog with waggy tail and the dog the judge would like to take home.
People wanting to have human-only fun on the Saturday can get involved in footgolf, laser shooting and harp playing.
There will also be activities for children, with a treasure hunt and a bouncy castle.
An alpaca shearing demonstration will take place at 2.30pm.
At 4pm there will be speed shearing competitions in which contestants grab and shear as many sheep as possible with the allotted time. Commentary will be provided by Will Hendreseifion.
A Clwyd 2020 spokesperson said: "This promises to be a fun packed day, with the bar managed by Clwyd YFC and a hog roast donated by CLD Meats, Denbigh and bread from Henllan Bread.
"Mic ar y Meic will be playing tunes from 8pm to take us into early Sunday morning."
Other events over the weekend include a noson lawen (Friday evening) sponsored by NFU, concluded by a Sunday lunch sponsored by Cheval Liberte.
