MOST parents would advise their children to wait until their 20s and 30s to get married, however primary school children in Denbigh have already tied the knot.

Ysgol Pendref, Denbigh, helped its foundation phase pupils stage a make-believe wedding at St Mary’s Church, Vale Street, as part of their topic about cultural celebrations.

The pupils learned creative, group and organisational skills as they were busy being wedding planners, making guest lists, invitations, designing wedding outfits and making bouquets.

They even made a spectacular wedding cake with four layers and floral decoration, topped with the initials of Kieran and Freya, who were the stars of the show.

Parents and staff attended the ceremony and the bells were tolled to congratulate the pupils for their hard work.

Nicola Griffiths, Ysgol Pendref headteacher, said: "The pupils enjoyed the project and learned numeracy and literacy skills.

"The ceremony was a wonderful day had by all."
