RADIO One's Big Weekend in Middlesbrough is finally here so we've put together a handy guide to the artists we think are not to be missed today if you're lucky enough to have a ticket. If not, sit back, relax and tune in on the radio!
The 1 for New Music Stage
Lewis Capaldi
The Scottish singer is on a high having seen his debut album race to the top of the UK charts record time.
His LP Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent sold the equivalent of 89,506 records in week one and outperformed the rest of the top 10 combined.
He’s bound to be on good form – and he was a big fan of the Big Weekend Sheep Dash on Friday!

Sam Fender
North Shields born Sam Fender is also having an amazing year – in 2018 he was named one of the BBC's Sound of 2018 alongside two other Big Weekend acts, Sigrid and Lewis Capaldi.
He won the Brit Awards Critics’ Choice for 2019 and will no doubt be proud to be performing back on home turf.
Okay Tyneside’s not Teesside, but we’re sure the Boro crowd will go wild for him.
Stormzy
Where do we start? Stormzy is getting ready to headline Glastonbury this year, and his Stewart Park show will give him the chance to prove wrong the doubters who claim he’s not ready for such a big gig after just one album.
Grime star, superstar, Boro star.
Main Stage
James Arthur
There’s nothing we in the North-East like to celebrate more than a local lad or lass made good and James Arthur ticks those boxes and then some.
The people in the northeast are just the best people. Thanks to all the folks I’ve seen over the last couple of days in Redcar and saltburn for being so friendly and showing love. ❤️

He’s shown there is a life and career after reality TV if you’ve got the talent, and we’re excited for him to be performing on such a big stage so close to his Saltburn roots. Go on James!
Jess Glynne
Put simply, Jess Glynne just has so many good tunes! From Rather Be with Clean Bandit, to Hold My Hand, Don’t’t Be So Hard on Yourself, I’ll Be There and All I Am, there is some cracking dance potential.
She is the first British female solo artist to have seven number ones on the UK Singles Chart and we’re sure her set will be packed with all her best ones.
Miley Cyrus
Miley’s already had a taste of the Boro experience, rocking with Mark Ronson on Friday night with their smash hit Nothing Breaks Like A Heart.

She’s a refreshingly honest performer, with a unique take on the world and she is going to be fabulous. Just please leave that wrecking ball at home!
BBC Music Introducing Stage
Dylan Cartlidge
Another local starlet on the rise – Dylan, who appeared on BBC documentary the Mighty Redcar, told us he was thrilled to get the chance to perform at the Big Weekend.
He’s a talent, and we think he’s going to go far.
