Innogy Renewables UK have announced the area of benefit for the Clocaenog Forest Wind Farm Community Fund and are inviting tenders for the contract to administer the fund.

Turbines are now being erected at the 96MW site which will comprise 27 turbines and will provide enough clean energy for the equivalent domestic needs of up to 63,800 average UK households once operational.

As part of the project innogy has made a commitment to deliver community funding worth up to £768,000 (index linked) each year of the operational lifetime of the project which is expected to be up to 25 years.

The tender process follows an extensive community consultation which involved an online questionnaire, with hard copies mailed to all homes within 6km of the wind farm site boundary. innogy also held two very well attended drop-in sessions, at Denbigh Town Hall and Cerrigydrudion Community Centre, as well as hosting a strategic stakeholder event.

The fund’s area of benefit was finalised following the consultation and can be found, along with a summary of the questionnaire results on the project website www.innogy.com/clocaenogforest.

Katy Woodington, Senior Community Investment Officer, innogy Renewables UK said: “I’d like to thank everyone who took part in the community consultation. We had almost 500 questionnaires completed, it was fantastic to see so many local people engage with the fund and take the opportunity to help shape its future.

"We’ve taken all of that feedback on board and will now be going out to tender for an independent administrator to deliver the fund. With our primary aim being to ensure that the fund is easy to access, fair and can support the projects that really matter.”

Organisations interested in becoming the fund administrator are encouraged to visit the project website www.innogy.com/clocaenogforest and complete an expression of interest form before June 7.
