ASPIRING performers are being invited to show off their skills at an annual talent event.

Entrants can now register to audition as part of this year's Time2Shine talent competition, which is organised by the Mold Carnival committee.

The competition has two age categories - juniors (under 15 years) and seniors (15 plus).

Auditions will take place on June 12.

Finalists in each category will perform on the main stage at Mold Carnival on July 7 with the winner in each category receiving a cash prize of £100.

Jane Evans, Mold Town Council events and community engagement officer, said: “Time2Shine is a great opportunity for anyone who is taking their first steps towards becoming a performer or for those who just like to perform in front of family and friends.

"This year we are looking for all kinds of talented people, from singers, dancers, comedians, jugglers, magicians, even dancing Dads, Mum or dogs.

“The competition is not just for people from Mold.

"It is an event for members of the community and for anyone who visits or has anything to do with Mold.

"We like to think the auditions are friendly and are a good environment for everyone taking part or coming along to watch."

Audition will be held at the Ex Servicemen’s Club on Wrexham Street (the Bottom Club) on June 12 with the semi final held on June 24t at 6.30pm.

Auditions are open to members of the public for an entrance fee of £1 (children under 16 free). An additional audition (at another venue) will be held on June 20 for those unable to make the audition on June 12.

Carolyn Davies-More, Deeside Sixth Form College's head of drama, has been an audition judge for the competition since its start in 2013.

She said: “There is so much talent around, the grand final is always a highlight of the carnival day - many of our finalists go on to perform at many other local events following their performance as people are always so impressed.

"As a judge, we always provide constructive critique and we get many contestants taking this on board and coming back each year to audition again.

"A great example of this is last year’s senior winner Owen Barton-Davies.

"Owen has audition for Time2Shine for the last three years and last year our final judges which included TV’s Sherrie Hewson and Theatr Clwyd's artistic director Tamara Harvey, Owen won the completion (in the over 15 category), so it shows that determination does pay off."

Previous winners from Time2Shine include BBC’s Greatest Dancer Harry Smallman (Harry and Eleiyah).

Harry won the competition with his rendition of Whitney Houston’s I have nothing in 2014. Maddison Spencer who also took part in BBC’s Greatest Dancer with dance group Danes Bates Collective, was the first ever winner Mold Carnival talent competition in 2013 as a solo dancer and Maddison won once again as part of a duo in 2017.

All those wishing to take part are asked to complete and entry form which can be requested via time2shinemold@gmail.com or downloaded from the website www.moldcarnival.co.uk/booking-forms or collected from Mold Town Council, based on the first floor of Mold Town Hall in Earl Road.
