IT has been another busy week for Denbigh Harriers.

On Tuesday, five Denbigh Harriers took part in the Great Orme fell race.

This short race of 4.1 miles climbs nearly 1,300 feet, while it is fast and furious.

All of the Harriers managed to improve on their previous times on this course, including Menai Baugh, who not only won her age category but also broke her own age category course record by two minutes.

Harriers' times: 35, David Baugh 38.50; 62, Victoria Whitehead 43.39; 81, Katy Baugh 46.31; 88, Menai Baugh 47.31 (1st F60); 89, Peter Lester-Owen 47.43

It was great to see so many members, present and past, supporting the Bodelwyddan Castle parkrun on Saturday.

There was the additional bonus of being able to promote the club’s Fairy Freckled Cow Trail Race on July 7.

Denbigh Harriers took most of the volunteering posts on the roster, with 16 volunteers.

They were Andrew Morris, Bob Neale, Caroline Dawe, David Baugh, David Spencer, Dawn Marshall, Jon Whitehead, Katy Baugh, Mark Jones, Meirion Wyn Roberts (ex-Denbigh Harrier), Menai Baugh, Roger Snaith, Sali Powell, Sioned Griffiths, Steve Gadd and Victoria Whitehead.

In addition, there were seven Harriers who were running the parkrun, with Shaun Hughes winning in a competitive run.

Harriers' results: 1, Shaun Hughes 18.18; 23, Duncan Jones 23.49; 28, Mari Williams 24.12; 40, Ian Jones 25.29; 63, Anwen Brown 28.15; 71, Sarah Bayliss 29.23; 73, Paul Jones 29.28.

Mathew Jones was the sole Denbigh Harrier running the Liverpool Marathon.

This well organised race is undulating for the first 22 miles and this year, the runners had a headwind for the flat final four miles.

Mat stayed just ahead of three hours and 45 minutes pacers for two-thirds of the race, but he succumbed to them eventually and relied on his watch to pace himself.

He managed to get over line in a personal best of 3-44.15.
