A TEENAGER from Rhyl has been appointed to the Welsh Conservatives’ new Youth Shadow Cabinet.

Welsh Conservative Leader Paul Davies has appointed a Welsh Conservative Shadow Youth Cabinet to help ensure that the voice of the next generation is heard and encourage more young people to become interested in politics.

Jacob Evans, 15, a Year 11 student at Ysgol Glan Clwyd, St Asaph, is one of 10 members from across Wales aged between 14-21 who will serve on the Cabinet.

He will have the opportunity to: attend Annual Meetings with the Welsh Conservative Shadow Cabinet in the Senedd, attend Shadow Ministerial visits throughout Wales, attend the Welsh Conservatives’ annual Conference and participate in policy events and panels.

Eight of the ten members, including Jacob, were introduced on stage at the Welsh Conservatives’ Conference in Llangollen earlier this month, and took part in a Q&A panel session with North Wales Assembly Member Mark Isherwood AM.

Jacob said: “I have a strong interest in politics so I'm pleased to hear my application to be part of the Cabinet has been successful. Taking part in the Q&A session was a bit nerve-racking but a great experience. I look forward to the opportunities my new role will provide me."
