IT’S NOT everyday a celebrity walks in to a country pub for a bite to eat in a rural village.

Staff at The Kinmel Arms of St George, near Abergele, were surprised when actor Shane Richie walked in.

The booking was for 13.

Becky Jones, supervisor at the The Kinmel Arms, was on shift on Tuesday, May 28 when Shane arrived.

Speaking to the Journal, Becky said: “We had no indication it was going to be him from the booking. It was a table of 13. He was with his family and children and some people he didn’t know. We don’t know if it was for business or pleasure.

“He was really nice - exactly how you imagine him, nice and a bit cheeky.

“He had two starters and he said to give his compliments to the chef.”

Becky, who is an Eastenders fan, managed to grab a picture with Shane; he is most famous for playing Alfie Moon on the soap and has been in Benidorm, Flushed Away and tv series Minder.

Her colleague Sophie Cullen, supervisor, also had a photograph with the star.

Becky, who has been at The Kinmel Arms for 12-months, added: “I was a massive Cat and Alfie fan, oh my god. I am still a fan of Eastenders now.

“I haven’t met any other celebrities during my time here but you don’t know how you are going to be, but you stay professional.

“He gave that vibe that he was okay to have photographs.

“He was really nice when we served him saying ‘thank you’ and ‘thank you darling’.

“He met expectations which I was glad about and he was really nice about the food.”
