A SALON in Rhyl gained national recognition recently when its dedicated trio of staff members received a prestigious Welsh Hair and Beauty award.

Body Beautiful Studio was crowned North Wales' Beauty Salon of the Year at the awards ceremony held at the Cardiff City Stadium on May 25.

The latest success follows on from last year's when the salon, based on Wellington Road, was awarded 'Outstanding Business of the Year'.

Long term friends, hair stylist Nicola Hall and beauty stylists Sam Dyche and Jackie Lowry, say they are "thrilled" by the business' latest achievement.

"The award this year has just been the icing on the cake," Jackie said.

"We are a real salon for real women and we couldn’t have won this award without the tremendous support from our amazing clients and family and friends.

"We really are incredibly humbled by this award not only for us but for Rhyl - to think that a little seaside town salon won a prize for the whole of Wales is incredible."

Nicola added: "Last year, it was our first time there and we didn't really know what we were getting ourselves into, but this year we went there to win.

"This year there wasn't a category for 'Outstanding Business', so we were going back to the awards - thanks to our wonderful clients - with an award that nobody can take away from us. We will always be the reigning champions in that category."

The trio, who say they have now been nicknamed 'The Queens of the North' by their loyal clients, came up against Klee Hair and Nails in Prestatyn for the Team of the Year prize and Rejuva, Rhuddlan, for the Beauty Salon of the Year award.

Finalists in other categories at the glitzy ceremony in Cardiff came from all over Denbighshire, Gwynedd, Anglesey and Conwy.

Body Beautiful has also been shortlisted within the 'Top 10 Team of the Year' category for all of Wales and is also included in Wales' 'Top 100 Salons guide 2019'.
