RESIDENTS in a Wrexham village are being encouraged to donate their unwanted teddy bears for a good cause.

Rossett Community Council have organised a picnic on Saturday, June 1, at which crime prevention charity, Owl Cymru, will be holding one of its homeless teddy bear workshops.

The charity's volunteers lovingly restore the pre-loved bears and use them to help promote safety of people out and about in the darker nights and mornings, by re-selling them wearing bright and colourful clothing.

Wendy Pace, Clerk of the community council said: "Do you have a pre-loved bear that is no longer needed and you can donate? Bring it down to their stand on Saturday."

The community picnic will also have a selfie corner where children can dress up in fancy dress and use props, including a Police car, but there will also be plenty of useful advice about how best to stay safe, including an introduction to doorstep crime and safety in the home.

The event takes place at Rossett Village Hall on Saturday, June 1 between 12-2pm.
