RHUDDLAN has sworn in its new mayor.

This is the second time that cllr Arwel Roberts has had the honour of becoming town mayor.

He took the chains of office from outgoing mayor cllr Gareth Rowlands.

Cllr Roberts said: "This is the second time that I have the honour of being the town mayor. My first year as mayor was a very enjoyable experience and hopefully working with my fellow town councillors and the town clerk this year will be as successful.

"My wife Awen [mayoress] for the year will be at my side.

"Rhuddlan is a wonderful town with a real community feeling. Both of us will try our level best to congratulate everyone who are making Rhuddlan such a brilliant place to live in.

"Everyone is important what their background from the youngest to the oldest.

"Hopefully during this year we can bring the youngest and the oldest together," he added.

"One asset that we hope to develop as a recreation area for all residents is Admirals Field."
