A SUCCESSFUL campaign has been marked once again in the Vale of Clwyd.

Ruthin Town Youth FC recently held three presentation nights.

All of the events were enjoyed by everyone who attended, especially the young footballers.

No league or cup honours were won this season, although some teams did get to cup semi-finals.

New development squad manager Martin Baldry and his assistant Arfon Griffiths attended the U-16s and U-14s event, with Martin speaking to the U-16s in particular about how he intends to help them on their journey from youth football into the world of senior football.

This year, the youth section was extremely pleased to be joined by first team players Osian Davies, Ryan Goldston and club captain Ilan Hughes, who presented the trophies to the award winners.

The special award presented to a long-serving U-16 player who has contributed significantly to his squad over the full five seasons as a Ruthin Town Youth FC player was won by Dafydd Jones.

Club chairman Wynne Davies paid tribute to so many people that contribute towards the running of the club in such a professional manner.

Particular tributes were paid to the efficiency of long standing treasurer Gareth Griffiths, long standing secretary Llinos Goldston, her husband Richard, who is also vice-chair, and the safeguarding officer Alwyn Jones.

The Owen Roberts Memorial shield was awarded to U-15s' manager Steve Kell for tremendous service over the past four years.

All of the volunteer managers and coaches were thanked, while thanks also went to the main sponsors for their continued long-term support.

They are Blodyn Aur, S P Kell Accountants, Scanwel, Hill and Roberts Accountants, Rubbertech, Trefor Jones mens wear and the Rotary Club of Ruthin.

Many others were also thanked, including Tudor Jones, Glan Hesbin, for hedge cutting; volunteer referees, particularly Glyn Hughes and Barry Roberts; Brynhyfryd Leisure Centre; the senior football club; and the wives and families who support all the individuals who do the front line work, especially those who helped organise the buffets on the evenings.
