WREXHAM Council have announced an event aimed at people interested in a career in the armed forces.

The Army will be holding a recruitment day on Llwyn Isaf from 9am until 4pm on Saturday, June 8, with a range of activities on offer.

Members of the public will have a chance to tackle a climbing wall, run an assault course and take part in Army command tasks, along with other activities.

Cllr Rob Walsh, the Mayor of Wrexham, will also be in attendance.

Armed Forces Career Office staff will be on hand to answer any questions on what life is like in the Army and explain the process from applying to joining.

The Army Careers office in Wrexham will also be open all week, so members of the public will have the chance to visit and find out more about a career in the army, and the application process.

Phil Hill, Lead Recruiter in Wrexham said: “The British Army has such a big range of employment opportunities available and, as one of the most respected organisations in the world, a career in the Army will see you go far.

“Most people are unaware that the Army currently provides more apprenticeships than any other employer in the UK and has roles on offer for people with no formal educational qualifications, all the way to roles requiring a degree.

“We not only champion and support our soldiers through lifelong learning credits to achieve further professional qualifications, but also encourage and enable continued personal and physical development as well.

“The Army is recruiting now so why not come and have a look at what we have to offer, it could be just what you have been looking for.”

Cllr David Griffiths, Armed Forces Champion for Wrexham, said: “We’re very pleased that the Army will hold this event in Wrexham town centre, and would encourage all those interested to come along.

“Many members of the public may be interested in a career in the Army but want to know more about what Army life is like and what the application process requires.

“We’re proud of the strong links we have with the armed forces here in Wrexham, so I’m sure this event will see plenty of attendance from the community on Saturday.”
