FLAGS at Rhyl lifeboat station were lowered to half mast in tribute to crew members who lost their lives in France.
On Friday, June 7, three members of rescue organisation Société Nationale de Sauvetage en Mer (SNSM) died; their boat capsized as they went to help a fishing boat in distress.
A spokesperson from Rhyl Lifeboat said on Friday: "We have heard the tragic news that three of our lifeboat colleagues; members of the French RNLI equivalent - (SNSM) - have died when their lifeboat capsized as they went to assist a fishing boat in strong winds and rough seas off the beach of Tanchet aux Sables-d'Olonne.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the crews families at this time, and to the crews who are searching for a fourth person still missing.
"We have lowered the flags at the station to half mast, including the French Tricolour Flag.
"Today's loss is a timely reminder of the dangers of putting to sea."
