A MAN was left with a fractured cheek bone, black eye and possible fractured rib following a robbery in Falmouth on Friday evening.

As reported by the Packet on Sunday, a 66-year-old man was walking home from Falmouth town centre with food shopping when he was attacked.

Reports on social media had suggested that three male youths and one female were involved in the attack at Basset Street, but police have said today (Monday) that four male youths and one female carried out the assault.

It had also been suggested on social media that the attack happened between 9.30pm and 9.45pm, however the police have said that it took place between 8.50pm and 9pm.

A police spokesman said: "He was punched in the face and fell to the ground, where he was repeatedly kicked.

"The offenders then fled the scene with the man's shopping in the direction of High Street.

"The man attended hospital and sustained a number of injuries, including a fractured cheek bone, black eye and possible fractured rib."

Police are investigating the incident and are appealing to anyone who witnessed it, or anyone with information, relevant dash cam or CCTV footage to contact police.
