A TEENAGER elected to the first Welsh Youth Parliament made his maiden speech on lifeskills in the Senedd's debating chamber.
Jonathon Dawes, who is in year 11 at Rhyl High School, opened up Plenary session two.
He said: "I made my maiden speech on lifeskills in the curriculum and how the Wales new curriculum must include vital skills we will need in the future. These include politics, finance and first aid.
"I am happy to say my motion got passed as one of the top three issues we will be tackling as youth parliament over the next two years in office.
"I presented to fellow members a new syllabus to Welsh Baccalaureate including all these things and this also has support from all Welsh Youth Parliament Member and Assembly Members on a cross party basis.
"I also contributed to the debate on mental health, Welsh language, Brexit and the environment."
Jonathon was elected to the youth parliament in December 2018.
He is one of 60 other young members.
